I defn agree about Oak, BS! I know I mentioned this a time or two and others chimed in with "liking it" and such, but I never took to it after Winterland and the others...it really always seemed a poor fit. Of course, I departed shortly after they started playing larger and larger venues, and I am sure some of the places elsewhere in the country were in older bldgs, worse neighborhoods, etc., but given the many great spots in the Bay Area, Oak Col was the bottom for me.

Yea not the best Neighborhood for sure but at least the staff was hands off, even helpful, and the police seemed to ignore the place.

That's defn true! Hadn't been considering that aspect since it generally applied, at least in the 70s, to most of the Bay Area...
